In many cases, bathroom lighting ends up at the very bottom of our to-do list. Yet it’s a high-traffic room that we enter several times a day. These are always brief visits, and the lights take a beating from being turned on and off constantly. Choosing the right lighting shouldn’t be underestimated. There are several factors to consider when making your selection. We have 5 tips for you on how to choose the right bathroom lighting.
1) Make sure the room is well-lit
Since you spend a lot of time in the bathroom, the atmosphere inside must be relaxing and as pleasant as possible.
Lighting is a welcome aid in this regard. It’s a good idea to allow for some flexibility by installing different types of lighting. For example, you can separate the ceiling lights from the
bathroom mirror with its built-in lighting, and when you want to relax in the tub, simply turn on a dimmer setting.
2) Avoid harsh, direct light
Morning routines take place exclusively in the bathroom, and this applies to both men and women. After a long night’s sleep, our tired eyes don’t want to be immediately exposed to harsh light. That’s why it’s a good idea to choose light fixtures that emit a more subdued glow. A bathroom mirror with built-in lighting offers an interesting solution.
3) Less is more
We often tend to put a large number of light fixtures in a room. But everything in moderation. In the bathroom, there’s no need to turn the ceiling into a Swiss cheese-like mess. A few spotlights or a subtle ceiling fixture will do just fine.
4) Keep safety in mind
Place light bulbs on either side of the bathtub, illuminate the area in front of it, and don't forget the shower stall. Potentially hazardous areas must be adequately lit.
5) LED lighting for the bathroom
LED lighting saves energy, can handle being turned on and off constantly, isn't harsh on the eyes, works well in challenging spaces, and offers excellent brightness.
For these reasons,
it's the ideal solution for any bathroom.
