The diodes contain two layers of semiconductors, and when an electric current is applied, electrons move from the first layer to the second. This creates excess energy in the form of light.
While other types of light bulbs must be chosen based on the room, LED lighting is completely versatile. It is suitable for interiors, outdoor spaces, and industrial facilities. It turns on very quickly and is also energy-efficient.
LED technology offers the opportunity to break away from traditional designs. And that’s how the filament bulb was created. It consists of a glass or sapphire strip several centimeters long, on which a large number of LEDs are mounted. The entire system is powered by a very low current, which allows it to be fitted into a standard light bulb socket. Only the filament is visible, giving it a very stylish look.
Light bulbs have thus undergone significant development in recent years. This culminates in the fact that they can be integrated into a smart home system. Their functions can be controlled using a cell phone or tablet. In addition, you can adjust the brightness, set automatic timers, and—with some models—even choose the color temperature.
